Cookie Policy

1. Introduction

At CleaRank, we use cookies and similar technologies to help our site function, remember your preferences, protect your security, and provide you with a better trading and learning experience. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, why we use them, how long they persist, and how you can manage or opt out of them. We believe in transparency and want you to understand exactly what data we collect and why.

This policy applies to our website at clearank.com and our SaaS dashboard at trade.clearank.com. We are committed to transparent, compliant data handling across both properties. Our compliance framework includes the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), the U.K. Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and — as CleaRank Ltd is incorporated in Israel — the Israeli Privacy Protection Law 5741-1981 and related guidance from the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority. We also respect additional frameworks such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) for users in applicable jurisdictions.

Our primary contact for privacy and data protection inquiries is info@clearank.com. For full details on how we process personal data beyond cookies — including data retention, deletion, and your rights — please review our complete Privacy Policy, which complements this document.

This Cookie Policy was last updated on April 29, 2026, and may be updated periodically as our practices and technology evolve. We encourage you to review this policy regularly to stay informed.

2. What’s a Cookie?

A cookie is a small text file or data string stored on your device — whether a computer, tablet, or smartphone — when you visit a website. Cookies are transmitted between your browser and the website’s servers, allowing the website to recognise you on subsequent visits, remember your settings, track your usage patterns for improvement, and enable features like persistent login sessions. Cookies are safe, widely used, and do not contain viruses or malware; they are simply small data containers.

Cookies serve two primary origins based on who controls them:

First-party cookies: Created and controlled exclusively by CleaRank’s domains (clearank.com or trade.clearank.com). These cookies are stored directly by us and typically used for authentication, preferences, and site functionality. You have direct control over these cookies via your browser or our cookie preferences interface.

Third-party cookies: Created and managed by external partners or service providers (e.g., Google Analytics, PayMe, Cloudflare) whose code is embedded on our pages. These cookies are typically used for analytics, payment processing, fraud prevention, and security. You can control third-party cookies via browser settings or by opting out directly from the service provider.

3. Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies for four primary, legitimate purposes. Each category of cookies is tied to a specific business need, and we use the minimum necessary data to accomplish these goals:

Security & Authentication. Cookies enable secure login sessions, so you don’t have to re-enter your credentials every time you visit. They also help us detect and prevent unauthorized access, identity theft, and account takeover attempts.

Functionality & User Preferences. We remember your display theme preference (dark or light mode), your saved watchlists, custom chart layouts, notification settings, and other personalized configurations. This allows your experience to be consistent and tailored across multiple sessions without requiring manual reconfiguration.

Analytics & Continuous Improvement. We use analytical cookies to understand aggregate usage patterns — which tools are most valuable to users, where the interface is confusing, performance bottlenecks, session duration, and device/geographic distribution. This data is anonymised and used only in aggregate to inform product improvements, not to track individuals.

Fraud Prevention & Security. Cookies help us identify and block malicious bots, fraudulent transactions, and other security threats. This protects both our platform and your account.

4. Types of Cookies We Use

Cookies are categorised by both their function and the regulatory consent requirement they trigger. The table below lists the actual cookies deployed on the CleaRank platform, along with their purpose, lifespan, and consent status. This table is updated regularly as our platform evolves.

5. Cookie Categories & Consent

Must-Have Cookies (Strictly Necessary)

Strictly necessary cookies are those without which a service explicitly requested by the user (such as placing an order or signing into an account) cannot be provided. These cookies are essential for core website functionality and are exempt from consent requirements. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), strictly necessary cookies do not require prior, explicit consent because they are essential for the requested service and cannot be disabled without breaking site functionality.

Examples on CleaRank include: Supabase authentication tokens (keeping you logged in), PayMe payment session cookies (processing transactions securely), Cloudflare security cookies (protecting against bot attacks and DDoS), and our consent record cookie (cr_consent) used to remember your cookie choices and demonstrate compliance with applicable law. These are placed automatically and transparently whenever you access the site.

Note: strictly necessary cookies may continue to be used throughout your session even after you have rejected non-essential cookies.

Improvement Crew (Analytics)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how users interact with our platform. Analytics cookies collect aggregate, anonymised data about feature usage, page views, session duration, device type, and geographic location. This data helps us identify which features are most valuable, where users encounter friction or bugs, performance optimization opportunities, and user demographics. All data is processed in aggregate and anonymised; we cannot use analytics cookies to track individual users.

Analytics cookies require your explicit, informed consent and can be withdrawn at any time. If you reject analytics cookies, Google Analytics will not collect data from your visits, and you will not be tracked for these purposes.

Examples: _ga (Google Analytics persistent user identifier), _gid (session-based identifier), _ga_<container_id> (Google Analytics 4 session cookie).

Our GA4 data retention is configured to 14 months, after which event-level and user-level data are automatically deleted by Google.

Memory Savers (Functional)

Functional cookies enhance the user experience by remembering your personal choices and settings. Examples include your preferred display theme (dark or light mode), saved watchlist layouts, custom chart configurations, and notification preferences. Functional cookies persist across multiple visits, so you don’t have to reconfigure your interface every time you return. These cookies do not profile you or track you across other websites; they exist solely to improve your experience on CleaRank.

Examples: cr_preferences (all UI settings), cr_streak_seen (habit-tracking notifications), cr-eod-last-shown-date (end-of-day modal state), cr_signup_tier (checkout flow state).

Marketing & Advertising

CleaRank does not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not run cross-site behavioural advertising or share cookie identifiers with ad networks. If we introduce any marketing cookie in the future, we will (a) update this policy with at least 30 days’ notice, (b) place such cookies only with your prior, explicit consent obtained through our consent banner, and (c) provide a clear means to withdraw consent at any time.

6. Session vs. Persistent Cookies

Session cookies are created when you visit the site and automatically expire when you close your browser or your session times out (typically after 30 minutes of inactivity). Session cookies store temporary data — such as authentication tokens or items in your shopping cart — that is only needed during the current visit. They are never persisted to disk.

Persistent cookies remain on your device for a specified duration — ranging from days to months to years — even after you close your browser. Persistent cookies store long-term preferences and settings that you want to maintain across multiple visits. Examples include your theme preference, saved watchlists, and language choice. You can delete persistent cookies anytime via your browser settings or via our cookie preferences interface.

7. Consent & Regulatory Compliance

GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, PECR & Israeli Law

CleaRank is fully committed to compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), the U.K. Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and the Israeli Privacy Protection Law 5741-1981.

Under these laws, we obtain explicit, informed, prior consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device. Strictly necessary cookies for essential services do not require explicit consent. All other cookies — including analytics, functional preferences, and any future marketing cookies — require affirmative opt-in via our consent banner or cookie preferences interface before they are deployed.

Record of consent. When you make a cookie-consent choice, we record the timestamp, the version of this Cookie Policy in effect at that time, and the categories you accepted or rejected. This record is retained for 24 months as evidence of compliance under GDPR Article 7 and equivalent law. You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie preferences link in our footer.

We also comply with the CCPA and CPRA for users in California. For more details on your rights and how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.

Cookie Consent Banner

When you first visit our site, a consent banner appears with equally prominent options:

  • Accept all — approve all cookies, including strictly necessary, functional, and analytics.
  • Reject non-essential — accept only strictly necessary cookies; decline analytics and any future marketing cookies.
  • Manage preferences — open a detailed preference centre where you can enable or disable each cookie category individually.
  • Privacy policy link — navigate to our full privacy documentation.

You can change your consent choice anytime via the Cookie preferences link in our footer or by clearing your browser’s cookies and revisiting the site. Your consent preference is stored in a long-lived cookie so we remember your choice.

Global Privacy Control (GPC) & Do Not Track

We respect Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals transmitted by your browser or privacy tools. When you send a GPC signal — which explicitly requests that we do not sell or process your personal data for targeted purposes — we treat it as a valid opt-out request for analytics and any future marketing cookies. GPC signals override our default cookie settings and are honoured immediately without requiring you to open a preference centre.

We do not currently honour DNT (Do Not Track) headers because the standard was deprecated by W3C and is no longer a reliable or universal standard. GPC is the modern replacement and is fully supported.

8. Managing Your Cookies

Browser Settings

You have full control over cookies via your browser’s privacy and security settings. You can view, manage, and delete cookies at any time. Common paths per browser:

  • Chrome (desktop): Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox (desktop): Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari (macOS): Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Microsoft Edge (desktop): Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data → Cookies and other site data.
  • Chrome (Android): Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data → Cookies and site data.
  • Safari (iOS / iPadOS): Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data.

Direct Opt-Out for Google Analytics

You can install Google’s official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your data from being used by GA4 across all sites: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Third-Party Opt-Out Tools

Beyond browser settings, you can opt out of behavioural advertising and data collection using industry-standard tools:

  • Ghostery (ghostery.com) — a free browser extension that blocks tracking, profiling, and ad networks. It provides transparency into what is tracking you on each site.
  • Digital Advertising Alliance Opt-Out (optout.aboutads.info) — a cooperative effort by advertising associations allowing you to opt out of interest-based advertising from hundreds of advertisers simultaneously.
  • Your Online Choices (EU) (youronlinechoices.eu) — equivalent EU opt-out portal.

9. Third-Party Cookies & Partners

CleaRank integrates trusted third-party services that embed cookies and tracking technologies on our platform. While we contractually require all partners to comply with GDPR, PECR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy laws, we are not directly responsible for their independent cookie policies and practices. We encourage you to review their privacy notices:

10. Your Privacy Rights

Under GDPR, PECR, CCPA, the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, and similar privacy regulations, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — request a copy of all personal data we collect and process about you.
  • Right to correct — correct inaccurate personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to deletion — request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal obligations to retain certain data.
  • Right to withdraw consent — withdraw your cookie consent at any time via our cookie preferences interface or by contacting us.
  • Right to opt out — opt out of analytics and marketing communications.
  • Right to data portability — request a portable copy of your personal data in a common format.

To exercise any of these rights or for privacy-related questions, please contact us at info@clearank.com or review our full Privacy Policy at clearank.com/privacy-policy.

11. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our practices, technology, or regulatory requirements evolve. Significant changes will be noted with an updated Last Updated date at the top of this document, and we will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes. Where a change adds new categories of cookies or alters the legal basis for any processing, we will re-prompt you for consent. Your continued use of CleaRank following any non-material update signifies your acceptance of the revised policy. We recommend checking this policy periodically to stay informed.
