tastyfx Review 2025
The world renowned IG Group launched its first foray into the U.S. market with IG US in 2019 but then rebranded in 2024 to tastyfx: A specialized forex broker designed for traders who prioritize speed, transparency, and cost efficiency. We rigorously tested and investigated this forex only broker over a period of a few weeks, providing a CLEAR™ score across key categories. This enabled us to reach some concrete conclusions of whether tastyfx upholds the excellent IG reputation and whether it brings anything new to the competitive U.S. trading community.
Why Trade with TastyFX
The CleaRank Dynamic Spread Tracker verified that tastyfx delivers up to 40% tighter spreads than most U.S. brokers in volatile sessions. For example, EUR/USD trades cost just 0.8 pips vs. the industry average of 1.2–1.5 pips. Combine this with 50:1 leverage (CFTC-compliant), no commissions, and no deposit fees, and you have a broker that’s here to compete with the best.
If you thought that’s impressive, there’s a lot more to tastyfx than low costs. It manages not to compromise on professional trading tools such as full TradingView integration, MT4 support, and premium services for high-volume traders. Most features we tested were engineered for high performance.

Cons
Regulation: Is tastyfx Safe?
(CLEAR™ Score: 4.7/5)U.S. regulatory bodies are renowned for the most stringent financial oversight in the world. tastyfx is regulated by both the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the National Futures Association, which are Tier-1 regulators. They enforce negative balance protection for all U.S. retail clients but unfortunately do not provide investor compensation schemes such as SIPC coverage.

Commissions, Spreads and Fees: Transparent Pricing, Zero Commissions
(CLEAR™ Score: 4.5)Our research revealed tastyfx’s unique approach to pricing, they charge zero commissions on trades but costs are factored directly into the spreads. Our Dynamic Spread Tracker analyzed their pricing across 80+ forex pairs and concluded that their spreads are competitive for major pairs but inconsistent for exotics. While we found that tastyfx maintains full transparency with no hidden fees, we did experience spread widening during market volatility, and in some rare cases it was significant.
Spreads: Competitive for Majors, Wider for Exotics
Our live spread tracker confirmed that tastyfx maintains spreads starting at 0.8 pips for EUR/USD and USD/JPY, as advertised. However this is mainly during stable trading sessions, as we experienced significant spread widening during high volatility (e.g., EUR/USD hit 1.2 pips during ECB announcements). For scalpers and news traders this is a significant blow, and tastyfx may not be the optimal broker for you. Exotic pairs like USD/ZAR saw spreads up to 110 pips, reflecting typical market illiquidity.
Forex Spread Comparison (Live-Tracked Averages)
| Pair | TastyFX Spread | Industry Avg. |
|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 0.8 pips | 1.0–1.5 pips |
| GBP/JPY | 2.5 pips | 3.0–4.0 pips |
| USD/ZAR | 110 pips | 120–150 pips |
| AUD/JPY | 1.6 pips | 2.0–2.5 pips |
Commissions: None, But Spreads Carry the Cost
Initially it seemed to us that tastyfx had come up with the secret sauce to low cost trading by combining zero commissions and super low spreads. They manage this impressive feat by embedding costs into the spreads and a hedging partnership with IG Markets. While this enables simplified fee structures, it’s far from perfect. Per our research active traders will pay more over time compared to raw ECN accounts elsewhere.
Margin Rates: Flexible but Demanding for Exotics
Margin requirements range from 2% (EUR/USD) to 25% (TRY pairs). While majors are accessible, exotic pairs like USD/CNH demand 5–25% margin, limiting leverage for riskier trades.
| Pair | Margin Requirement | Industry Avg. |
|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 2% | 3–5% |
| USD/TRY | 25% | 20–30% |
| GBP/JPY | 5% | 5–10% |
Fees: No Hidden Charges
One of tastyfx’s strong points is a transparent fee structure, because they don’t charge any! Our testing confirmed that they charge zero deposit/withdrawal fees, no inactivity charges, and no account maintenance costs.
| Fee Type | tastyfx | Industry Avg. |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit Fee | $0 | $5–$20 |
| Withdrawal Fee | $0 | $5–$20 |
| Inactivity Fee | $0 | $10–$50/month |
Volume Rebates: Up to 15% Cashback
If you’re a trader that likes to get busy, tastyfx offers generous rebates of up to 15% on spreads paid. It’s a nice perk as it softens costs for high-frequency strategies.

Funding: Streamlined but Limited Options
(CLEAR™ Score: 4.5)We tested the tastyfx ACH and debit card funding methods, both were simple and fast and didn’t cost a dime. However, tastyfx does not offer funding via e-wallets or cryptocurrencies, which are offered by most reputable international brokers as a standard option. Hopefully this will change, as U.S. regulators warm up towards the crypto market in the coming years.
Deposit Methods: Fast but Narrow Selection
We noticed three core deposit methods offered by tastyfx: debit card, ACH transfers (via Plaid), and wire transfers. ACH with Plaid enables next-business-day funding, while debit cards process instantly. However, the $250 minimum deposit is steep and well above the competition, which will dishearten casual traders or newbies. For comparison, IC Markets minimum deposit for Raw Spread accounts require $0, while Standard accounts require $200 via credit/debit card or $50 via e-wallets and Crypto deposits start at $100.
Deposit Methods and Processing Times
| Method | Processing Time | Min Deposit | Currencies | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Debit Card | Instant | $250 | USD | $0 |
| ACH Transfer (Plaid) | 1 Business Day | $250 | USD | $0 |
| ACH Transfer (Manual) | 3–4 Business Days | $250 | USD | $0 |
| Wire Transfer | 1–5 Business Days | $250 | USD | $0 |
Max Deposit Limits:
Withdrawal Methods: No Fees, Mirrors Deposits
We tested multiple withdrawal methods with varying amounts and it mostly mirrored the deposit methods in terms of processing time, no fees and simplicity. The main difference being debit card funding, where deposits are instant but U.S. debit withdrawals are executed the same day. We would say it’s just about good enough but still far from being the best in the industry. It’s important to note that currency conversion fees apply for non-USD transactions.

Trading Platforms: Robust but Third-Party Heavy
(CLEAR™ Score: 4.6)As you’d expect from a broker in this category, tastyfx offers a solid choice of platforms such as TradingView and the popular MT4. They also offer ProRealTime which is rare amongst U.S. brokers and is currently only offered by Saxo Bank and Interactive Brokers. Despite the fact that they don’t have their own proprietary platform, our robust testing confirmed that tastyfx offers enough industry leading tools to satisfy the needs of the most experienced technical traders and algo strategists. The only real downside we found was that they don’t offer the MT5 or cTrader platforms, which means traders may have limited access to the latest automation tools.
CLEAR™ Trading Platforms Score Breakdown
| CLEAR™ Score | Platform Features |
|---|---|
| 4.7 | tastyfx offers MT4, TradingView, and ProRealTime (rare in the U.S.), which are all considered industry leading platforms. |
| 4.4 | Our order tests showed no requotes, but we did experience volatility-related delays during news spikes. Overall our Execution Tracker confirmed competitive execution time across all platforms |
| 4.6 | The award-winning tastyfx mobile app supports full trading, charting, and signals |
| 4.8 | MT4’s Expert Advisors and ProRealTime’s ProScreener delivered solid automation. We also liked the free access to many MT4 add-ons (e.g., Mini Terminal, Stealth Orders) that seriously improved strategy execution. |
Our Key Findings for Each Platform
After 24/7 rigorous testing of every platform offered by tastyfx, we observed some standout features which will play a key role in your trading success.
TradingView
Traders worldwide love TradingView and for good reason. At tastyfx the integration is seamless and you trade directly from the TradingView charts and get real-time signals. Also backtesting via Replay Mode is available, which is another crucial feature. However this does require a separate TradingView plan and if you ask us, it’s worth every penny.
MetaTrader 4 (MT4)
We definitely weren’t surprised to see the old and reliable workhorse in action, but we did notice some standout features during testing such as Free VPS hosting for low-latency algo trading. This is only available for accounts with a minimum balance of at least $2000. Another great feature was the inclusion of Autochartist and 18 free indicators (e.g., Renko, Pivot Points).
ProRealTime
Seeing a U.S. broker offering ProRealTime was really refreshing and it’s exclusive to tastyfx. No other broker can offer ProRealTime in the United States. The key highlights we found was the custom scripting with ProBuilder, over 100 indicators, and unlimited timeframes. This service is free for the first month, but then carries a subscription fee of $40/month unless trading 4+ lots monthly which is reasonable and doable.
Web and Mobile Apps
This is where tastyfx comes up slightly short in our opinion. We found the technical tools to be limited in comparison to their competitors. They do offer basic charting with over 30 indicators and real-time signals, but in today’s day and age where trading on the go is the norm rather than the exception, this is standard. Another major drawback is that the mobile apps lack integration – MT4 and TradingView require separate logins instead of a unified access system

Customer Support: Reliable but Limited Hours
(CLEAR™ Score: 4.3)We were relatively satisfied with the tastyfx 24/5 availability via phone and email, which is a necessity for urgent trading like placing spot forex orders. During our tests, responses were prompt (under 10 minutes for emails, instant phone pickups), and agents demonstrated clear knowledge of platform tools and margin rules. However, frankly it’s nothing more than satisfactory, as there is no live chat or dedicated account managers which you would expect from a broker of this calibre. On the bright side, their Help and Support site offers a searchable database for self-service on topics like deposits, charts, and fees. While efficient, their whole support setup just feels robotic. Yes, it’s great for resolving issues quickly, but it’s missing the “human touch” of brokers offering dedicated mentors or extended weekend hours.

Tradable Assets: Forex Only
(CLEAR™ Score: 3.9)If you’re a forex trading purist, then you’ll get a polished experience with the respectable but unremarkable lineup of 80+ forex pairs, including majors, minors, and a handful of exotics like USD/ZAR and USD/SEK. But for anyone craving some diversity, it’s a non-starter. Unfortunately tastyfx is a one trick forex pony, falling behind their competitors that bundle forex with stocks, crypto, and ETFs—all under one roof. We couldn’t help but feel that this strategy of forex only trading is a half baked experience.
Forex Trading: Their Specialty
Forex is tastyfx’s sole focus, and you’ll immediately feel the difference. Our testing revealed execution speeds that were mostly reliable, with no requotes during volatile sessions. Also their margin requirements of 2%–25% align with industry standards. Nevertheless, we couldn’t shake the restrictive feeling of tastyfx’s single-asset approach.
Other Assets: Missing in Action
Surprisingly, tastyfx doesn’t offer stocks, ETFs, commodities, or cryptocurrencies—period. While its sister platform, tastytrade (under the same IG Group umbrella), provides these assets, switching between platforms adds friction and frankly just doesn’t make sense. For context, competitors like Interactive Brokers and eToro offer thousands of assets under one login, making tastyfx’s forex-only model a really hard sell.
Social and Automated Tools: Basic but Functional
For traders prioritizing automation, tastyfx delivers the MetaTrader 4’s Expert Advisors and ProRealTime’s ProBuilder for custom strategies. These tools do the job but lack the depth of cTrader or TradingView’s ecosystems. There’s also no copy-trading or social features, which is another disadvantage compared to brokers like eToro or Fusion Markets.

Account Opening: Niche IRA Access with Extra Steps
(CLEAR™ Score: 4.1)For standard retail accounts we found the account opening process to be straightforward. However for IRA traders the process is complex with plenty of stumbling blocks. The IRA offering is a rare perk allowing forex trading through retirement funds. While innovative, it hinges on third-party custodian Equity Trust, adding paperwork and delays (10–15 business days for transfers).
On the other hand, the retail process is quick. We opened a basic forex account and completed the digital application in under 15 minutes. We also received the verification confirmation that same day and were ready to trade in under 24 hours. That’s efficient as can be, so no qualms from us.
